Low-Fat Whole Wheat Banana Bars

I love bananas, but sometimes I do not go through them fast enough. What to do when your banana is too ripe. . . YOU BAKE!!

Today I made some banana bars that are low in fat and whole wheat. . . delicious! 


INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup Wheat Flour 
  • 1/2 cup White Flour 
  • 1 cup Sugar 
  • 1/4 cup Applesauce 
  • 1/4 cup Butter 
  • 1 Egg 
  • 1/3 cup Milk 
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda 
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt 
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon 
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice 
  • 1 very ripe Banana 
  • M&Ms, or finely chopped Walnuts or Whatever you life!! (OPTIONAL) 
BANANA FROSTING: 
  • 2 tablespoons Butter 
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar 
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt 
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla 
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lemon Juice 
  • 1/2 medium Banana, mashed  
DIRECTIONS: 
  1. Mash Banana and Lemon Juice together
  2. Mix the Flours, Applesauce, and Sugar for 1 minute
  3. Beat in Egg, and mix in Milk, Baking Soda, Salt, and Cinnamon
  4. Spread in a greased 9x13 inch pan 
  5.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until center comes out clean
  6. Combine all frosting ingredients and frost when bars are cool 
  7. Put M&M's on top or Sprinkle with Walnuts if you would like
  8. If any are left over than store in the refrigerator
