A Starving Student's Birthday

Glenn's birthday was yesterday!!! However, I want to share both the adventures of his birthday and also last Saturday.

Last Saturday was a fun day. Those who have ever had a starving student card (a long fold up card you can purchase on campus that has a lot of great deals that are good for a year) you probably are familiar with the FREE section. Glenn and I thought it would be fun to go around town and get all the items from the Free Food section. We rode our bikes to each place and enjoyed out fun outing. It was great because we did not have to spend a dime. At each location we got the free item and shared it. We discovered that we can easily share a small of anything and be satisfied. Woohoo!

Check out our adventure. . .

First stop: Dairy Queen--One Free Regular Fry

Second Stop: Arctic Circle--One Free Small Fry
We voted and decided Article Circle give you more fries for the small, but Dairy Queen has better fries.

Third Stop: Florence's Chocolate--One Free Chocolate

Fourth Stop: Scoops--One Free Scoop of Ice Cream of your choice (they gave us a huge scoop)

Fifth Stop: The Bike Shop
This was originally not in the plan, but my bike tire was flat when we came out of scoops. We took it to the bike shop to get a new tube and air put back into it.

Sixth Stop: Great Harvest Bread--One Free Slice of Bread
This was not on the starving student card, but you can get a huge free slice of bread at Great Harvest on any given day. . . we made a stop to get some yummy bread.

Last Stop: Kiwi Loco--One Free 5 oz. Cup (frozen yogurt)
This was a fun and much needed day for the two of us. We really enjoy riding out bikes around town and getting all the free treats made it even better. We were not really hungry for dinner that evening.

And finally, yesterday was Glenn's birthday! Glenn had to go to campus in the morning to take his last two finals of the semester, but he is officially done until September. He got home around noon and before he came home I decorated (well, kind of)

I had left over streamer and balloons from someone's bridal shower I did last year; however I did not have any wrapping paper. I decided to get a little creative with wrapping Glenn's presents (just cover them up with balloons.

The shoes are from Glenn's parents, the card from my parents, and the gummy worms from me (only because he ask for it every time we go to the store)

Underneath are his presents

When Glenn came home and saw what I did he thought it was pretty funny. I think their needed to be a little bit more excitement in discovering his presents other than just handing them to him unwrapped.

He is pretty excited if you can tell.

Then for lunch we had some yummy steak, potatoes, and carrots that have been cooking in the slow cooker all morning.

Finally, we went to the store to get ice cream (because if you are Broulims Plus members [which is free], you get a free half gallon of ice cream on your birthday).

We then met up with a sister from my mission who was in town for the day, Liz Calder, and she joined us for a cheesecake I made and ice cream.
We did not have candles, so we found some around the house and lit them.
