One Month and Many More to Come

Dearest Johnathan,

Happy One Month!!! It is hard to believe some times that you are one month old. Some days feel longer and some feel shorter. Though you were just a stubborn little guy and did not want to come out, we are so glad you are part of our growing family. You will be known as the little boy who made us parents.

As of today, you are 9 lbs 8 oz and 22 ¼ inches! I guess you could say we celebrated today by giving you (finally) your first official bath. Your umbilical cord finally fell off. You enjoyed this bath much better than you did the sponge baths.

One thing that Daddy and I love about you is how well you sleep at night. You have been this way since day one. Yes, we do still get up in the night for feedings. However, that is usually only once or twice. You never cry or scream in the night. You will wake up to be fed and then go back to sleep with no problem at all. This helps us get through the day. It is amazing at how sound of a sleeper you are. We went to a parade on 4th of July and you slept soundly through extremely loud tractors, sirens, etc. However, the moment we set you down . . . you are ready to proclaim it.

Aside from sleeping, you love to be held and cuddle. This, however, is the opposite of your mommy. It is hard to not want to cuddle though because of how sweet and peaceful you look. Though at the end of the day. . . I am more than ready to hand you off to someone else.

You absolutely love eating. This is a no brainer for you. You are very proficient as well when it comes to this task. Whether I am feeding you or you are taking a bottle from Daddy, you sure love it. You get mad at Dad every time he pulls the bottle out of your mouth. I sure love that you take the bottle like a champ. It gives me a break in the evening for a little while.

You love to grab anything that your little hands can get a hold of. You recently discovered that if you hold Daddy’s hand in place while getting a bottle, he is less likely going to pull it away.

You are not the biggest fan of tummy time at the moment. You get so frustrated, but you are also very good about lifting up your head (and legs). You are very strong. Your body built is more like your mommy when she was a baby. Your leg muscles are pretty defined.

You love to be in the carrier that we wear and go for walks outside. You love the sunshine and breeze in your face. This makes us very happy because we love the outdoors too. I am also glad you love the carrier because that makes it easier for me to get somethings done around the apartment. You are not too keen on the bouncer chair, but you are warming up to it.

One thing that 100% came with being a boy is how you have marked your territory. You have peed on many things. One thing that Daddy was not too happy about was when you peed on his laptop while he was changing you.

Everybody is also so amazed at how quiet of a crier you are. You are not loud at all and that is just fine. You do, however, snort when you cry or get frustrated. I guess you got the snorting gene from me. We will just have to see if you do it while you laugh too.

You absolutely love to look around and see what is around you. Curiosity is a wonderful trait to have . . . just don’t get too carried away.

We look forward to seeing you grow and discover new tricks as the days go by.

 Love Mommy (and Daddy)
