Rockin' 3 Months

Dear Johnathan,

You are 3 months old now! You love showing off your happy go lucky personality every day. Some days you are a pill because nap time seems to get in the way of your curiosity. But, we both know that you are happier when you do nap. You are the rolling over champ. I know I have mentioned it in previous months, but you are getting faster at it. You don’t mind tummy time anymore because you immediately start rolling over. Lately I have put a mirror book in front of you. It grabs your attention enough to keep you on your tummy a bit longer. Sometimes you start to roll over but want to keep looking at the book. . . so you lay on your side. I don’t think it will be long before you learn to roll from back to tummy. You sometimes come close when you are in bed or the bath. We have to watch you very closely in the tub because of this. You still love your bath time and the water. You have discovered how to splash and you love just playing in the water.

This month you met your great grandma Matthews. We took a trip to Washington and you enjoyed the time there. You sure loved grandma Matthews too. You saw the ocean for the first time. You enjoyed being outside, but you were not sure about the wind.

You continue to love standing. I feel like I need to buy one of those door jumper things because of this. You get extremely happy when we clap your hands and sing happy and you know it. You also seem to love to listen to Alex Boye. He seems to always calm you when you are grumpy.

This week you finally left mom and dad’s room. You are sleeping in your crib now. It was a bittersweet moment for me, but I think we are adjusting just fine.

You were also blessed this month. Lots of family and friends came to see you on this special day. Your daddy gave a wonderful blessing.

Lastly, you have become extremely attached to your pacifier. Earlier this week, we discovered you had started teething. This could be a possible reason for your love of the pacifier. You have also discovered your fist. And fingers. I am not too keen on the idea of you being a hand sucker but it saves me from having to go in and put the pacifier back in your mouth.

Overall, you have just grown and blossomed this month. You now wear 3-6 month clothes but remain in 0-3 month pants. This makes it difficult to put you in matching pant and top outfits. You are chubby in the face and lean in the waist, legs and arms.

We look forward to seeing what this next month brings. You are our sunshine!

Love, Mommy
