One Year Down

Dear Johnathan,

Wow! You are officially a one year old! I could be like all those other parents that say where did the time go; however, I don't feel like it has just flown by. We had hard days and we had enjoyable days, but I don't feel like it was yesterday that you were born. Maybe because I am not in the physical pain I was a year ago. The experience I went a year ago will never be replaceable. I admit, it was not complete love at first site like most people say. Sure we were glad you joined our family, but the love I have for you started and grew the more and more I got to see your personality.

Speaking of personalities, you are a very social/people person little boy. You are energetic, lovable, and mischievous. I have to admit, I am not looking forward to the mischievous part going into toddler-hood. You know when you are not suppose to be doing something. You get startled when I say your name followed by the word no. If you are in a different room and I turn the corner, you sometimes get startled and speed  crawl away. It's like you were apparently doing something you should not have been doing (which usually is not the case).

You have taken a step here and there, but it usually is maybe one or two and then you fall down. You seem to be in no real hurry to walk because you are pretty content with your fast crawl. You still love bike rides and going outside whenever possible. You are just an adventurous one!

You love any kind of fruit and grain. You would just be happy if all you ate was grains (bread, crackers, etc.) and fruit. You also really love salad. I wouldn't say you have a favorite toy particularly. You just seem to pull out anything and everything. You love books. Sometimes I catch you in your room sitting down with a book, turning the pages while looking at the pictures.

You love to give kisses with your tongue sticking right out. You have crazy hair. Everyday it is different. You love playing by yourself (which is good since you have no siblings). You still love bath time. You even played in a pool for the first time this month and loved it.

You still sleep like a champ at night and fight naps during the day. We all know you will be happier if you get those naps in though ;-) You sure jabber during the day and talk to us, but you don't really say any words yet.

We are excited to see what this next year will bring. I hope you always stay a people person. It definitely makes going out in public less of a hassle since you are always pleasant around others. All it takes to make a grumpy Johnathan turn happy again is if someone knocks on our door.

Yesterday you got to ride a carousal for the first time at the park and thought it was the greatest thing ever. You excitement and thrill about everything around you is so contagious. Keep enjoying life and finding happiness int the small things.

Today we celebrate YOU! We are going to have so much fun. So far we have had a yummy breakfast of whole wheat chocolate chip pancakes, watermelon, and grapes. . . more fun celebrations to come :-)

Happy 1st Birthday Little Man!

Love Mom
