Beautiful Heartbreak

Sunday I had a lot of things going through my mind and as a student that is not uncommon. I am 22 years old (almost 23) and just trying to figure out life. I absolutely love my major, but what I want to do with it still puzzles my mind. Everybody has dreams and wants adventure, at least I do. I would say I am a deep thinker. I write alot and exaggerate from time to time. According to my Post Modernism Professor today: it is common for a creative writer to exaggerate when they tell a story (fact, or not).
As I was sitting in church I began to write in my journal to try and clear my mind; we got to the last hour, Relief Society, and I understand why it has 'Relief' in the title. The lesson is just what I needed to hear.
President Thomas S. Monson (LDS Prophet) gave a talk back in April called "The Race of Life." Many things stood out to me as our teacher lead the discussion on the talk. Let me bullet point some of the thing I needed to hear:
  • "The Apostle Paul likened life to a race. To the Hebrews he urged, 'Let us lay aside. . . the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.'" (I think for me I need to slow down some and let Heavenly Father take the lead.)
  • "I speak of prayer. I speak too of the whisperings from that still, small voice; and I do not overlook the holy scriptures, which contain the word of the Lord and the words of the prophets--provided to us to help us successfully cross the finish line. (I admit I get caught up in all the things I need to get done and forget to yield to the spirit and to really take time to study my scriptures)
Those were a couple things I needed to get out of the lesson. Not only did this lesson answer my prayers, but the teacher also showed us a music video on YouTube that just carried it home for me and bring peace to my troubled heart. It is a song called "Beautiful Heartbreak" by Hilary Weeks (an LDS artist).
