Last night I decided to try this recipe for Crock pot Apple Butter! It was so good and so easy to make. . . the most time consuming part is peeling and chopping the apples, but after that it is so simple. Now for the recipe I actually only did six apples and took half of all the other ingredients because we did not have 12. The recipe does call for 12 apples though if you have them.
Ingredients (makes a little more than 1 pint)
- 1 dozen apples, peeled, cored, cubed
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon All Spice
- Peel, Core, and Chop a dozen apples.(I used my apple cutter to make it go faster)
- Toss the apples in the sugar and spices
- Put everything in the crock pot (that includes the water)
- SET it and FORGET it!
After a few more hours on low, I bumped it up to high and propped the lid open ( I just took a wooden spoon to prop it open)
It cooked down and thickened quite a bit (It could take a couple hours)
I decided to blend the butter down to make it smooth and so I put it in my Magic Bullet, but you could use a blender or a hand mixer to do the job as well.
Then you could put it in a container or a canning jar. You can freeze half the batch if you would like and put the rest in the refrigerator!!Check out more pics of how it should look at each step at http://changingmydestiny.wordpress.com/2011/10/08/crockpot-apple-butter/
The pictures on the my blog is what my apple butter turned out to look like!
After it was done I just took a big spoonful out of the crock pot before I blended it and it was so good!
Try it you will love it!
