Dear Johnathan,
Two months have gone by. I know most parents say they wish they could bring back the moments of the first month. But to be honest, I would skip the first month entirely if I could. I admit the first few moments can not be traded for anything, but I feel all you actually did was poop, sleep, and eat. Now we are getting to the fun part. You are starting to be very playful.
Your personality is starting to shine through. Since day one you have been such a great sleeper at night. Glenn and I are scared that child number two might be the complete opposite. We have been so spoiled with you as our first. However, we got to work on your nap times. You have got to a point where you will fight us to take a nap. You have a great curiosity and though you are tired, you fight the urge to sleep. Eventually, we do get you down for a good nap.
You love to smile but as soon as we take out the camera, you become mister serious. Though by pumping and wiggling your legs you get the biggest grin on your face. You also love the game of peek-a-boo. You wake up so happy and smiling. You also get a big grin on your face when Dad comes home from work. You love playing with him and me (of course). One of your favorite activities is to sit on Dad's chest as he makes silly faces at you. And of course, you have the cutest dimples.
You have mastered the art of rolling over. You did it a couple times soon after you turned a month old, but they were really flukes. This weekend it finally clicked and now you roll over within moments of being on your belly. Tummy time never seems to bother you anymore since you learned that trick. You also love to stand up. We bring you to sit on our laps and you immediately stiffen your legs. You have extremely strong legs. I was the same. . . in fact, I am hoping those legs don't get you into as much trouble as they got me when I was a baby.
You also love bath time. It is so great. It does not matter what time of day you get the bath. You would sit in there all day long if we would let you.
Johnathan, we are so happy to be your parents. You make everyday a new adventure. We look forward to continue seeing you grow up and learn new tricks. We love you.
Love,
Mommy
