Need a quick and simple Thanksgiving treat (even the kids can help out)? These Rice Krispie Treat Turkeys hit the mark!
I love making festive little goodies to set next to all the plate settings every holiday. I saw this idea and thought I would give it a go.
Side Note: I will say this year Thanksgiving sure is fun having Johnathan around. My parent's have one of those wooden Turkeys you put suckers in for the feathers. Johnathan has no idea what a sucker is, but he learned very fast what a Turkey is. He loves pointing to it when we ask him where the Turkey is. He also thinks it is hilarious when we say "gobble, gobble."
So for these yummy treats I made Rice Krispie Treats and then cut them into circles (I used a cup). If you need a really yummy, gooey recipe try this one out: http://midwesternmoms.com/the-best-rice-krispie-treat-recipe-ever/
The original post I saw for these Turkeys said to use chocolate kisses, m&ms, candy corn, and candy eyes. This is what I did. I had kisses, so I used that has the base for the beak and the eyes. I put the pointed side down into the Rice Krispie. I then melted some chocolate chips, so I can make the other stuff stick on better. I dipped one side of the candy corn in the chocolate and placed them on the Rice Krispie. I then used an orange m&m for the beak. I dipped on edge into the chocolate to use as my glue. I did not, however, have any of those little candy eyes, so I found some Smarties in the Halloween candy. I used the chocolate as my glue again and put those on as eyes. I put a little chocolate on them to make the pupil.
P.S. if you don't have all this candy on hand, get creative and figure out what you can use as feathers, beaks, etc.
