Since Glenn and I have been married, we sit down before the new year and write down our goals and what we want to achieve and do as a family, couple, and individual. This year was no exception.
There was one thing, however, that left us stumped year after year--our family motto/mission statement. We have always talked about having one and making some kind of home decor to hang up as a continuous reminder. Year after year we were always left with no clue what our family motto/mission statement should be. I read an article earlier during the month of December titled 'You Gotta Believe.' This article was about a young man studying at BYU. He struggled figuring out what to major in and feared the future of not majoring in the right thing and being able to provide for his wife and growing family. He thought he would have it all figured out if he could only talk to the President of BYU--President Holland--then he would know what to do. Months passed and the young man was nearing graduation. It was pouring rain outside, and he was running to try and get home. President Holland yelled from his car and asked if the young man would like a ride. He jumped in the car. It was then he remembered months back when he felt he needed to talk to the President of the University. He asked President and Sister Holland "Have you ever been so discouraged that you didn't know if things would ever work out? Did you ever worry that you might not make it at all?" They replied "yes."
They went on to tell the young man that part of his problem is he does not believe. "You just believe that God will work His mighty miracles for everyone but you." President Holland said, "You gotta believe."

Years later, Elder Holland said in a talk "Don't give up. . . Don't you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead--a lot of it. . . and still counting, you keep your chin up. It will be all right in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come."
When I read this article I knew right away what our mission statement/motto should be "You just gotta believe." So as we enter this new year, I am so excited to share and continue to impact y'all in any way I can. I hope those who read my blog can be uplifted and inspired to do good and have fun in their own life.
A new planner is just what I need at the start of a new year. As I set my goals and strive to reach them. Let's not do this alone. Believe. Happy New Year!
