The Milkshake Trip

In 7th grade, my class was going to put together a recipe book. The assignment was to write a true story to go along with the recipe. I decided to write a story about my Grandpa Matthews and his famous chocolate, peanut butter milkshake. I wrote about the trips we would take to Washington to visit my grandparents and all the fun stuff we would do, but I concluded with one of the favorite memories was always going to Grandpa's favorite ice cream place--Dairy Queen. I concluded at the end with my grandpa's own milkshake recipe. The title of this story was of course The Milkshake Trip.

This last weekend marked four years since my Grandpa Matthews has passed away. The night before he died, my uncle Mark went and got my Grandpa a chocolate milkshake. That was the last thing my Grandpa ate while on the earth. Now in remembrance of my Grandpa, all my immediate family, cousins, aunts, uncles and Grandma have a milkshake, either on June 28th or 30th. We know that Grandpa is also enjoying one as well--after all, ice cream was Grandpa's favorite. He always came up with a reason to have it.

Glenn and I made chocolate, peanut butter milkshakes Saturday night! No matter what, I will always have a special place in my heart for the Milkshake Trips!

We love you Grandpa Matthews!!!
